guide for approach to "project" in terms of info/"material"
Jumping to additional players throughout the season that are connected to the 2024 roster.
Either: starting from 2024 roster player and finding connections to additional players or picking an additional player and finding connections to 2024 roster player
Adding players to the "players list" and (potentially) grouping players together for additional topics/subjects (for example: a group of players that were all on the same team at one point in their professional careers)
Using the olympic roster because it's a common reference point for most people (or I'm assuming it is... also because it was a strong reference point for me)
Not necessarily trying to update week-to-week in a typical sports sense like keeping up with players and their stats exclusively.
Definitely will use player stats and follow the season in a "standard" sort of way at times...
But mostly trying to tell-it-how-I-learned-it... Since I'm already forming things this way it just feels right to keep going in that direction. This also just seems more fun to me :)
So Ideally - if something is brought up that could potentially need more (or, independent) explanation, it will have already been explained more or about to be explained in the near future
Comparing against last season (like who won comissioner's cup last season, what player won what awards, etc.)
Comparing against league's history (like CBA agreement stuff and things relating to expansion, etc.)
guide for approach to "project" in terms of formatting material/media (video)
Trying to do what feels scariest to me right now since I feel like my stubborness about doing a long format type of video gives me perfect opportunity to procrastinate lol
Want to find a way to add text (within video editor? and if so, which one?)
Already have a pretty good basis for quick reference "cards" type of things - to place on the screen if shortened name is used ("B.G.", "Sky", etc.)
Would rather let things be potentially "boring" rather than trying to force a non-natural progression
my goals and intentions for this "project" (working list)
In terms of making the videos I want to make things that allow me to talk about things I find interesting
And I want to share the videos/the things I make so I can feel like I've ultimately expressed myself in a way
In terms of how I want to make the videos, I want to focus on using easy language
that is inviting in a way. To beginners. From a beginners mind.and I don't want to try to assert myself as a credible source on any topic or subject.
Especially when it comes to women's basketball (all the things I love about it, all the questions I have about it, all the things I've learned since getting into it, all the things that bother me about it) I feel kind of compelled to make serious attempts to share things about it because it took me so long to find other people making serious attempts to talk about it.... Not necessarily talking about it in a serious way, but seriously attempting to talk about it (silly or serious) out personal respect for some part of the activity (the culture, the competitive aspect, the stories, a specific team, etc.).
And, as someone who's never played basketball, it took me a while to "settle in" enough to understand certain things. Like, I thought after watching a weeks worth of WNBA games, I'd be relatively familiar with most aspects of the game. But a whole seasons worth of games in and I'm still not confident in my knowledge of the game. It's not like binging a tv show (like survivor or something) and being able to get a sense for general structure of the "game" and I LOVE that so much. And I feel like it would be cool for me even to document and track my "learning" of basketball for myself to look back on in the future...
